Casa de America, Madrid

Casa de América is a public consortium that aims to promote the link between Spain and the American continent, especially Latin America. This rapprochement is achieved through seminars, conferences, expositions, talks, speeches, music concerts, workshops, among other cultural activities.

This public consortium, installed in the Palacio de Linares was founded in 1990 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Community of Madrid, and the Council of Madrid.

The Palacio Linares is located in Madrid between Paseo de Recoletos and Calle de Alcalá. Its main façade gives onto Plaza de Cibeles. This Neo-baroque palace was built by Carlos Colubí, Adolf Ombrecht, Manuel Aníbal Ávalez and Carlos Fernández from 1877 to 1900. This beautiful structure has four floors and a basement.

Casa de América held the second Cumbre Iberoamericana in July, 1992 and ever since then, it hosts the most important and relevant personalities of the American continent, including presidents, politics, economists, authors, sociologies, artists, among other relevant personalities.

Fridda Khalo and Diego Rivera room: Mondays to Fridays from 11:00am to 7:30pm. Saturdays from 11:00am to 3:00pm. Tours: Saturdays and Sundays at 11:00am, 12:00pm and 1:00pm. Movie Theater: Wednesdays to Saturdays at 8:00pm.
